Project:
The Praying Mantis is perhaps one of the most relatable insects because just like humans, they rely heavily on their sense of sight, and have modified front legs that they use in a similar fashion to how we use our arms. I have always been mesmerized by how they use their complex set of mouth parts to feed and clean themselves.
The purpose of this project was to create a rigged mantis model from start to finish. This particular mantis species is the European mantis (Mantis religiosa). The initial model was blocked out in Cinema 4D, sculpted and painted in Zbrush, retopoligized in Blender, and rigged and animated in Cinema 4D. The final animation was rendered with Redshift.
